Dollar General Annual Toy Drive Provides Toys for Local Children
The Dollar General Store in Bolivar, NY began collecting toys and monetary donations for their Annual Toy Drive the day after Thanksgiving. Georgia Prosser, Manager of the Bolivar Dollar General, enlisted the help of Kenyon Andrus Post #772 Legion and Auxiliary members to help wrap the toys and distribute them to area children.
On Sunday, Dec. 13th, Santa visited the Bolivar American Legion and several gifts were handed out to local children. The remaining toys were distributed to the Bolivar Area Head Start children and B-RCS Pre-K students on Wed., Dec. 16 at the Pre-K building.

Kindness Baskets Were Made and Delivered
The United Methodist four year old pre-school class in Smethport has been studying kindness. Kindness baskets were made with donations from the children, and delivered to Sena Kean and Lakeview nursing homes. Thanks to the parents for their generous donations!!

Deer visit an Olean resident's back yard - July 22, 2009
 
The Eldred Borough Ambulance building and 2 ambulances were severely damaged by a fire early Sunday morning, July 19, 2009.
On Wednesday, June 24, 2009 a group of cyclists from the Bike and Build organization stopped by the Smethport Senior Center for an ice cream treat! Bike & Build organizes cross-country bicycle trips which benefit affordable housing groups.
The 80 ft. high steeple at the First Presbyterian Church in Port Allegany was being refaced the week of June 22, 2009.

The McKean County Livestock Club helped clean up the Lamphier Cemetery located in Eldred, PA on Sunday, April 4th. It was their annual community service project.
