Marvin Roberts


COUDERSPORT- Marvin Roberts, 64, of 134 Roberts Rd., died Sunday, (Jan. 11, 2009) in the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.
     Born July 19, 1944, in Coudersport, he was a son of Roland and Lucille Lloyd Roberts. On Jan. 29, 1972, in Coudersport, he married Laurel L. Sinsabaugh, who survives.
     Mr. Roberts worked for Pittsburgh Corning Co. of Port Allegany, both in the foam glass and glass block departments, before retiring in 2000, after 35 years of service.
      He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, having served with the US Marines.
      He was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Port Allegany High School, Class of 1963.
    He attended the Riverside Baptist Church, Coudersport.
     Surviving are two sons, Michael L. (Serene) Roberts of Bradyville, TN, David E. (Jessica) Roberts of Coudersport; a daughter, Jane M. (Mark) Higley of Port Allegany; three granddaughters, and a grandson; two brothers, Darwin (Donna) Roberts of Roulette, William (Kathy) Roberts of Bradford; and several nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Larry Roberts and Joseph Roberts; and two sisters, Arlene Stewart and Pauline Roberts.
    Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, at which time funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. H,D, Youngblood, Jr., officiating. Burial will be in Rathbone Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
     A military service will be conducted by the Port Allegany Honor Guard at the funeral home, immediately following the funeral.
     Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Coudersport Ambulance.
