Stanley E. Morgan
loving father and grandfather
OLEAN, NY - Stanley E. Morgan of 2576 Mueller Road passed away Saturday (Dec. 19, 2009) in Cuba Memorial Hospital's Palliative Care Unit after a brief illness.
Born March 22, 1932, in Freedom, he was a son of the late Stanton and Alzuma Howard Morgan. On Nov. 19, 1955, in Olean, he married Dolores L. "Wally" Evans, who passed away March 31, 2003.
Stanley was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army Engineers.
He retired from Cooper Industries and was previously employed in the shop at the former Montgomery Ward Store.
Stanley was a member of the American Legion and was an avid stock car racing fan.
Surviving are a daughter, Shirley (Raymond) Douthit of Olean; two sons, Dale (Nathane) Morgan of Obi and Patrick (Deborah) Morgan of Olean; grandchildren, Raymond (Sheri) Douthit Jr. of Lakeland, FL, Sarah Douthit of West Seneca, Cindy (Joe) Sakovitch of Cuba, Mary Morgan of Obi and Grace Morgan of Olean; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Eli; a sister, Rose Etta Wixon of Gainesville; two brothers, Gordon (Marion) Morgan of Nutley, NJ, and Richard (Donna) Morgan of Rushford; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, William and George Morgan; and two sisters, Lucy Holst and Corrine Morgan.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean, NY, where funeral and committal services will be held Wednesday (Dec. 23, 2009) at 11 a.m. The Rev. Gerald Slack, pastor of the Church of God in Christ Sacred Temple, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery, Olean.
