Gloria C. Bright
Olean- Gloria C. Bright, formerly of 302 Coleman Street and most recently of Mount Olive, N.C., passed away Thursday (Feb. 11, 2010), surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren at her son's home at 321 Coleman St.
Born Nov. 20, 1939, in Olean she was a daughter of LeRoy and Malita Clemons Witter. On Sept. 17, 1960, she married William "Red" Bright, who predeceased her on Nov. 20, 2007.
Mrs. Bright was a 1958 graduate of Olean High School and was employed at the service store Park & Shop on Front Street in Olean for 40 years. She was also a member of Creekside Chapel in Allegany.
She loved her faithful dog, Abby.
Surviving are her three sons, John (Julie) Bright, Jack (Karla) Bright and Robert Bright, all of Olean; two daughters, Mary Ellen (William) Fox of Olean, Lori (Russell) Carlson of Mount Olive; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Charles (Rose) Witter of Portville and Ray (Janet) Witter of Wellsville; a sister, Naomi "Tootie" MacNeal of Olean; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Witter of Allegany; the Mahar family, which she considered not only her friends, but members of her family; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Bright was predeceased by two infant grandsons, Jack and John Fox; five brothers, LeRoy Witter Jr., Donald Witter, Daniel Witter, Robert Witter and Richard Witter; and a sister, Donna Gray.
Friends and family will be received today (Feb. 13, 2010) at Creekside Chapel, Five Mile Road, Allegany, from 10am to 11am, at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. Ken Tesh, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, 2245 W. State St., Olean.
