Estella A. Jefferds
Mount Jewett, PA- Estella A. Jefferds, 97, of Dayton Street passed away Friday (Feb. 12, 2010) at Kane Community Hospital.
Born Sept. 14, 1912, in Clarendon, she was a daughter of Henry and Lillian Irwin Tremblay. On Aug. 31, 1937, she married Freedom Jefferds, who died in 1991.
Mrs. Jefferds had worked as a waitress at the former Breezy Heights and the Sky Line Restaurant. She retired in 1982 from the kitchen staff at Kane Community Hospital. She was also formerly employed at a plant in Smethport, that manufactured filaments for electronic tubes.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and the Mount Jewett Senior Center.
Surviving are three sons, Fred Jefferds and special friend Shirley Howard of Marienville, David (Bonnie) Jefferds of Mount Jewett and Robert (Rose) Jefferds of Eldred; a daughter, Helen English of Warren; seventeen grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Josephine Briggs and Rosalie Werth, both of Warren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Jefferds was predeceased by four brothers and a sister.
Friends will be received at the Cummings Funeral Home Inc., Mount Jewett, from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm Monday where a vigil service will be held at 3:30pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10am Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Rev. Vince Cieslewicz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at Nebo Cemetery.
