Rosanna C. (Rosie) Sisson
ALLEGANY, NY - Rosanna C. "Rosie" Sisson, a resident of Absolut at Allegany, passed away Sunday (Feb. 14, 2010) at Absolut after a lengthy illness.
Born April 9, 1912, in Olean, she was a daughter of William and Ethel Forester Green. She married Gaylord B. Sisson, who predeceased her in 1965, and later married George E. Sisson, who predeceased her Feb. 1, 1992.
She first worked for many years as a seamstress and interior decorator in Arizona. She and her family later moved back to the Olean area, where she was employed by AVX Corp. for several years, then was a cook for Camp Skwim and St. Bonaventure University.
Rosie enjoyed playing bingo, cards, checkers and loved to fish and hunt.
Surviving are four daughters, Betsy Arnold of Phoenix, Ariz., Rosanna Royer of Thompson, Conn., Ethel Drane of Phoenix and Helen Bogacz of Wellsville; three sons, Robert D. Sisson of Friendship, Frank (Esther) Sisson and Edwin Sisson, both of Olean; 40 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; 30-plus great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by three sons, Gaylord H. Sisson, William J. Sisson and Thomas E. Sisson; and nine brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, where funeral services will be held Thursday (Feb. 18, 2010) at 1pm. The Rev. Dr. Carl Schultz, pastor of the Hinsdale United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean.
