Alta M. Fox
SPRINGVILLE, NY - Alta M. Fox, 88, of Colonial Drive, Springville, formerly of Arcade, died Tuesday (Feb. 16, 2010) in the Elderwood Health Care at Lakewood in Hamburg.
Born March 2, 1921, in Salamanca, she was a daughter of Frank and Rhoda Bundy Meek. On Sept. 5, 1953, in East Aurora, she married Marvin L. Fox, who died May 20, 1997.
Mrs. Fox was a custodian at Arcade Elementary and Pioneer High Schools from 1970 to 1986. Prior to working at the schools, she and her husband owned Fox's Restaurant in Arcade and the Arcade Taxi Service.
She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Springville.
Surviving are her children, Frank (Nit) Anderson of Thailand, Nickkie (Jack) Howard of Shinglehouse, PA, James (Sandra) Povlock of Hampton, VA, Alan (Cathy) Fox of Dansville, Carol Gerling of Springville and Sandra (Rolland) Hinz of Blasdell; a sister, Helen Moor of Olean, NY; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers and five sisters.
Friends will be received at the First Presbyterian Church in Springville on Saturday (Feb. 20, 2010) from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time a funeral service will be held.
A reception hosted by the Presbyterian Church deacons will follow the funeral service.
Pastor David Kunselman and the Rev. Dr. James Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, East Aurora.
