Olive A. Nelson
PORT ALLEGANY- Olive A. Nelson, 100, of Laurel Lane, died Tuesday (Mar. 2, 2010) in Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.
Born December 19, 1909, in Port Allegany, she was a daughter of Milford L. and Pearl Robbins Nelson.
Ms. Nelson spent much of her life as a missionary. She spent 59 years in Argentina, South America.
She returned home to Port Allegany in 1997, living with her sister, Leah Lewis May. She kept in touch with her friends from Argentina, and some even came to visit her.
She enjoyed hand piecing quilts for many years.
On Dec. 19, 2009, in Sena Kean Manor, family and friends celebrated her 100th birthday.
Surviving are two sisters, Alice Nelson and Leah Lewis (Joseph) May both of Port Allegany.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ralph L. Nelson and George A. Nelson; and a sister, Edith L. Nelson.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Mar. 6, 2010) with Brad Steufen and Karen Cleveland officiating. Burial will be in Portage Valley Cemetery, Wrights, PA.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
