Raymond “Bud” J. Irwin


PORT ALLEGANY- Raymond “Bud” J. Irwin, 70, of 4963 Route 155, died Wednesday (Jan.21, 2009) in the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.
     Born June 28, 1938, in Mansfield, OH, he was a son of Harry F. and Doris G. Hellman Irwin. On April 8, 1967, in Port Allegany, he married Susanna Daniels, who survives.
     Mr. Irwin had worked for the Saint-Gobain Container Co. of Port Allegany, retiring in 2000, after 32 years of service.
     He was a veteran having served in the US Army, from 1961-1963.
       He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Port Allegany.
      He was a member and past president of the Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics & Allied Workers International, AFL-CIO, Local 75.
    Surviving in addition to his wife, Susanna, are three daughters, Dawn R. (Shawn) Ernst and Karen R. (Jeffrey) Borowsky both of Port Allegany, Lynn M. (Paco) Irwin of Madrid, Spain; five grandchildren; a brother, Jack (Faye) Irwin of Portage, PA; four sisters, Eileen Joe of New Derry, PA, Nancy (John) Kuncher of Latrobe, PA, Barbara Stromock of Derry, PA, and Harriet “Lee” (Robert) McGuire of Youngstown, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joyce Allison.
     Friends will be received from 3-5 p.m. Friday (Jan. 23, 2009) in the United Methodist Church, Port Allegany, at which time funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Randall Headley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
     Memorials can be made to the United Methodist Church or Veteran’s Memorial Home of Port Allegany.
     Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
