Howard F. McCollough
SMETHPORT, PA - Howard F. McCollough, 66, of Smethport, PA, died Thursday (March 4, 2010) in the Hospice of the Golden Isles, in Brunswick, GA.
Born on Aug. 4, 1943, he was a son of Howard M. and Evelyn L. (Douthit) McCollough. On Sept. 29, 1962, in Port Allegany, he married Audrey J. Ostrander, who survives.
Mr. McCollough was a 1962 graduate of Bradford High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war.
He had worked as an electrical contractor, employed by IBEW 9, Electricians Union.
Mr. McCollough was a member of the American Legion, Bucktail Post 138 of Smethport, PA, where he had been a former post commander and treasurer, former post district commander and former member of the post's funeral division. He was also a member of the VFW, Smethport Post 2497, where he had been treasurer. Mr. McCollough also served as an advisor for the Sons of the American Legion. He was also a member of the local IBEW 9 of Pittsburgh.
In addition to his wife, Mr. McCollough is survived by a daughter, Shelby (Daniel) Johnson of Clermont, PA; six grandchildren, Dustin, Justin, Tawney, Morgan, Alexandria and Blake Johnson; a sister, Denise (James) Soyke, of Bradford, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Donna Moonan.
Friends and family will be received at the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Home, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, on Tuesday (March 9, 2010) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral and committal services will be held on Wednesday (March 10, 2010) at 11 a.m. The Rev. Michael Culver, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Port Allegany, will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion, Bucktail Post 138, Smethport, PA.
