Marion A. Jennings
loving wife, mother and grandmother
RICHBURG, NY - Marion A. Jennings, 96, formerly of 2284 East Notch Road, passed away on Saturday (March 6, 2010) in the Highland Health Care Center in Wellsville following a lengthy illness.
She was a daughter of Lee and Elizabeth Archibald. On Sept. 5, 1936, she married Fred W. Jennings.
Mrs. Jennings was a graduate of Richburg Central School in 1921, a graduate of Geneseo State College with a bachelor's degree in education and a graduate of Alfred University with a master's degree in education.
Mrs. Jennings began her teaching career as an elementary school teacher at Bolivar Central School for one year, and later taught first grade at Richburg Central School for many years. She retired in 1972.
Mrs. Jennings was a member of the Richburg First Day Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for more than 30 years. She was also a member of the Star of the East, Chapter 109 OES Bolivar, and the Allegany Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by five grandchildren, Jill (Jeff) Harmon of Richburg, Scott Jennings of Bolivar, Stacy (Joseph) Bell of Bolivar, Jennifer Jennings of Bolivar, Todd Jennings of Bolivar, and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Jennings was predeceased by her husband in 1993; a son, Robert Jennings, in 2007; a sister Leah Karuch; and three brothers, Don, Jim and George Archibald.
Friends and family may call at the Schaffner Funeral Home, Inc., in Bolivar, on Wednesday (March 10, 2010) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. An Eastern Star service will be held in the funeral home at 7 p.m., Wednesday (March 10, 2010).
Funeral services will be held on Thursday (March 11, 2010) at 11 a.m., at the Richburg First Day Baptist Church. Pastor Larry Allen will officiate. Burial will be held at the Richburg Cemetery.
