Ralph W. Haught
VENTURA, CA - Ralph W. Haught of Ventura passed away peacefully Wednesday (March 31, 2010) at the Victoria Care Center.
Born Nov. 7, 1919, in Wadestown, WV, he was a son of the late Jessie Ray and Emza Myrtle Haught. He was the last living sibling of a family of three boys and six girls.
Ralph lived in Little Genesee, NY, with the love of his life, Beulah Winterberger Haught, for 48 years before moving to Andover, NY, Florida, then to Ventura to be close to family. Beulah predeceased him in 2005; they were married 63 years.
He was a veteran of World War II, enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1942 and proudly serving as a staff sergeant in England and France until 1945.
Ralph served as assessor for the town of Genesee for 11 years and town councilman for two years. He retired from Messer Oil Co. after 20 years and Haught Bros. Logging and Timber after 15 years. He had also operated the Haught oil business for 10 years.
He was a member of the Bolivar (NY) Fire Department; had been a member of the American Legion for over 64 years, most recently Ventura Post 339; and was a faithful supporter of Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Victoria Care Center for their care and compassion. "Ralph and Beulah are now together forever."
Surviving are a daughter, Penny L. Allen of Ventura; a grandson, Michael J. (Janis) Allen; and great-grandchildren, Vaughn F. Allen and Keegan F. Allen of Camarillo; and several nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Wells Cemetery, Little Genesee.
Arrangements are under direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
