Richard (Rich) Hint


FRIENDSHIP - Richard "Rich" Hint, 78, of 3445 State Road 275 died Monday (Jan. 26, 2009) shortly after arrival at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, N.Y. following a lengthy illness.
  Born April 6, 1930, in the town of Lancaster, he was a son of Edwin D. and Florence A. Zumstein Hint.  On Oct. 17, 1964, in Hannahston, Pa., he married the former Ethel M. Cypher, who survives.
  Rich moved to Java Village with his family at the age of 1 and later attended school there up to eighth grade. At that time, he began attending Arcade High School.
  After his education, he was employed at the Jim Shehee farm in Java Village.  In 1953 he moved to Friendship area where he and his brother, Donald, became partners on a dairy farm, known as the Claude Wood Farm located on State Road 275 in the town of Wirt.  In 1964, the partnership dissolved and Rich bought the Black Farm on State Road 275 where he remained in business until the present time.  While being a farmer, he was also town supervisor for the town of Wirt for four years.
  Rich was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Friendship, a past member of the Odd Fellows of Friendship and a member of the ASCS Committee of Belmont.
  He enjoyed hunting and loved his family.  He also had a great love for animals and chickens.
  Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Delores E. (Farron) Blue of the town of Wirt; three grandchildren, Jeffery Blue and Scott Blue, both at home, and Elizabeth Hint of Wellsville; two brothers, Edwin (Rose) Hint of Marilla and Larry (Ginny) Hint of Wellsville; and many nieces and nephews.
  He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Levon Keller and Sylvia Hein; and two brothers, Gladwin Hint and Donald Hint.
  Friends may call at the First United Methodist Church of Friendship on Thursday (Jan. 29, 2009) from 1 to 3 p.m., at which time funeral and committal services will be held.  The Rev. Robert Schooley, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be in Utopia Cemetery, town of Wirt.
  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Friendship or the Richburg Ambulance Squad.
  Arrangements are under direction of the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship.
