Leonard E. Harris
loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather
PORTVILLE, NY - Leonard E. Harris of 21 Waymer St. passed away Sunday (May 23, 2010) at Absolut of Salamanca after a short illness.
Born Nov. 18, 1920, in Wewoka, OK, he was a son of the late Mac and Rua Hudson Harris. On March 17, 1953, in Washington, D.C., he married the former Janet M. Wean, who passed away May 13, 2001.
A Veteran of World War II and Korea, Mr. Harris served with the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1962.
He had been employed at Alcas Corp. until his retirement.
He was a past member of Portville American Legion Post 814 and the Portville Volunteer Fire Department. Leonard was an avid Buffalo Bills and NASCAR fan.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra (Robert) Cleveland of Olean, NY; two granddaughters, Bobbie Jo Cleveland of Olean and Amy Lynn Cleveland of Tennesee; three great-grandchildren, Carrie, Cody and Chantel; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother and five sisters.
Friends were received at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main St., Portville, today (Tuesday, May 25, 2010) from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time funeral and committal services were held, with the Rev. Paula Roulette officiating. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
Memorials may be made to the Portville Volunteer Fire Department.
