Wilson A. Gridley
Wilson A. GRIDLEY, 85, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Westfield, PA, died Thursday, May 27, 2010.
Born June 27, 1924, in Westfield, PA, he was the son of Arthur V. and Anna Hubbard Gridley.
Wilson and his wife established an advertising newspaper, the Valley Dollar Saver, in Westfield in 1948, and published it weekly until his retirement in 1986.
He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Westfield, Church of the Good Shepherd in Davidson, NC, the Westfield Area Lions Club, and the Westfield Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are: his wife, the former E. Jean Thomas; a son, Wilson “Bill” (Tonda) Gridley of Charlotte; two daughters, Sandra (Edward) DiPrima of Rochester, NY and Nicole “Nikki” (Walter) Watson of San Luis Obispo, CA; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; a sister-in-law, Patricia Gridley of Huntersville, NC; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Gridley and Thomas Gridley.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 3, 2010 in St. John’s Episcopal Church, Westfield, PA. The Rev. Joseph F. McNamara, Rector, will preside. A luncheon will follow the service. Burial will be in Austinburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, Westfield, PA 16950.
