John Foster


loving husband, father and friend
    DUKE CENTER, PA.- John A. "Jack" Foster, 77, of Duke Center died Monday (June 7, 2010) at Olean General Hospital after a long illness.
  Born Jan. 28, 1933, in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of Lloyd and Ethyl Graham Foster. On Feb. 1, 1957, in Eldred, he married Beverly Shields, who passed away in February 1963. On June 27, 1964, in St. Raphael Church, Eldred, he married Carolyn L. Wasson, who survives.
  Mr. Foster was a 1951 graduate of Otto High School and was a lifelong resident of Duke Center.
  He started work in 1955 with Clark Bros. Co., which later became Dresser-Rand, in Olean, where he worked for 40 years. He retired in 1995.
  Mr. Foster was a member, past president and tail twister of the Otto Township Lions Club. He was also a member of the Otto Township Fire Department, Little Nippers sports program, Investors Club and Otto Alumni Association and had been a master of ceremonies at various local events.
  He was a man of great work ethnic. He also enjoyed a good time. He loved his family and friends very much and was endeared to them as "Jocko," and to his grandchildren as "Papa."
  Mr. Foster was an avid Penn State football fan and for the past four years spent winters in Florida.
  In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Barry Foster  (partner James Locke) of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two daughters, Kimberly (Randy) Shay of Eldred and Cara (Heath) Daniell of South Amboy, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Ryan Shay, Kory (Caty Pierotti) Shay and Macy Leighton Daniell; two sisters, Alene Wood of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Patricia Bartlett of Allentown; several nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law, Jeanette Wason of Bemus Point, N.Y.
  He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Foster, who died in September 1950 while serving in the Korean War; and a daughter, Kay Marie Foster, who died in 1959.
  A celebration of Mr. Foster's life will be held Aug. 8, 2010, at a locationto be announced.
  Frame Funeral Home in Eldred is in charge of arrangements.
