Arthur R. Brooder Jr.
SMETHPORT, PA - Arthur R. Brooder Jr., 77, of Smethport died Wednesday (June 16, 2010) at Sena Kean Manor, where he had been a resident for 23 years.
Born April 9, 1933, in Smethport, he was a son of Arthur R. and Thelma Tefft Brooder.
Mr. Brooder was a 1951 graduate of Bradford High School and attended Penn State University, where he received his associate degree. Mr. Brooder was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He worked as a design engineer for several firms over the years. The latter two of his career were for Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Co. in Wisconsin, and lastly at Zippo Manufacturing in Bradford.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Smethport.
Surviving are his daughter, Kathy Paul; three sons, Steven Brooder, Robert Brooder and Joseph Brooder; one sister, Dolores Holcomb of Smethport; one niece, Anne Holcomb, and three nephews, Gary Holcomb, Jeffery Holcomb and John Holcomb.
He was predeceased in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Home, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday (June 19, 2010) in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, pastor, as celebrant. Committal will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport. A Christian wake service will be held in the funeral home at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
