Margaret E. Robinson

OLEAN, NY - Margaret E. Robinson of Olean died Friday (June 18, 2010) at Olean General Hospital.
Born Aug. 14, 1920, in Olean, she was a daughter of the late Ernest J. and Lena Hanks Robinson.
She was a graduate of Olean High School, class of 1937, and the Westbrook Academy. She also took courses at St. Bonaventure College.
A lifetime resident of Olean, she was employed at A.E. Ewing Co. for 13 years and retired from Niagara Mohawk Power Co. after 30 years of service.
She was a member of the Olean General Hospital Auxiliary, a life-member of the Western Division Retirees Club of Niagara Mohawk, a member of the First Baptist Church in Olean for more then 66 years, a member of the Olean Court No. 19 Order of the Amaranth for more than 60 years, and a life-member of the Tyler Chapter No. 97 Order of the Eastern Star in Portville. She was grand royal matron in the Order of the Amaranth of the State of New York 100th anniversary in 1997-98 and held many supreme and grand offices. She also was a longtime member of the Olean Women's Bowling Association, a member of the Western New York Hummel Club, a member of AARP, a lifelong charter member of the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Club and former volunteer for Interfaith Caregivers.
Margaret is survived by a sister, G. Jane Robinson of Olean; several cousins; and many special friends.
Family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean. Funeral services will be held Monday (June 21, 2010) at 1:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Olean. The Rev. Dan McDowell, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
There will be an Amaranth memorial service Sunday at 3 p.m. in the funeral Home, followed by an Eastern Star service by Tyler Chapter No. 97 of Portville.
