Doris V. Kervin

DUKE CENTER, PA - Doris V. Kervin, 95, formerly of Duke Center, died Saturday (June 5, 2010) at The Gardens at Columbine Assisted Living in Littleton, CO, following a short illness.
Born Sept. 21, 1914, in Kane, PA, she was a daughter of Edward G. and Anna Nilson-Svenar Anderson. On Feb. 8, 1936, she married Tom Kervin, who passed away Oct. 11, 1990.
Mrs. Kervin was a graduate of Bradford High School and Westbrook Academy in Olean, NY. She later took real estate classes at Penn State Extension and at Jamestown Community College in Olean.
She had lived in Duke Center from 1936 until she moved to Colorado in 2003.
Mrs. Kervin had been employed as an Olean Times Herald news correspondent for the Otto-Eldred area for 27 years. She was later employed as a real estate sales associate for 22 years with Century 21 M.J. Realty in Bradford and Century 21 Southern Tier Realty in Olean.
She was a member of the Duke Center United Methodist Church and its Women's Society, a past member of Duke Center Garden and Study Club and a member of the Seneca Highlands Craft Guild. Mrs. Kervin loved traveling, reading, crafts, playing bridge and doing crossword puzzles.
Surviving are a son, Thomas H. Kervin of Sacramento, CA; a daughter, Julie (Gary) Gabry of Littleton; three grandchildren, Thomas Kervin, Kathy Poteet and Amie (Shane) Perea; five great-grandchildren, Steven Hammer, Laura Poteet, Jaralynne Poteet, Talia Perea and Piper Perea; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by six brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred, on July 10, 2010, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at which time a memorial service will be held with the Rev. Gary Sheesley, pastor of the Duke Center United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, NY.
The family requests memorials be made to the Duke Center United Methodist Church or Otto Township Fire Department.
