Charles W. (Doc) Ordway
BOLIVAR, NY - Charles W. "Doc" Ordway, 86, formerly of Bolivar, passed away Monday (June 21, 2010) at the Wellsville Manor Care Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born March 7, 1924, in Troupsburg, a son of Harry and Frances Cornish Ordway. He was predeceased by three wives, Christine Clark, Betty Putt and by Genevieve Clark, who died in 1991.
Charles was a former resident of Olean and Bolivar. He worked on farms, in plants and at several odd jobs over his many years. He was a hard worker who never missed a day of work. He loved his family and will be remembered for his sense of humor.
Surviving are four sons, William "Bill" Ordway, Charles (Samantha) Ordway, Terry (maxine) Ordway and Larry Ordway; five daughters, Carol Gorney, Debra (Charles) Vennard, Cindy Vennard, Virginia Ordway and Julie (Bruce) Foster; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Boom, Mary Phelps and Barbara Poorman; and many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
In addition to his wives, he was predeceased by three brothers, Cecil, Zeek and Fredrick Ordway; one sister, Helen Lannager; and two grandchildren, Janel Gorney and David Wayne Vennard Jr.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday (June 25, 2010) at 4:30 p.m. at the Wellsville Manor Care Center Activities Center, 4192A Bolivar Road, Wellsville, with Pastor Dick Helms officiating.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are under direction of J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, Inc., Wellsville.
