Donald C. Saunders
LAKE PLACID, FL - Donald C. Saunders, 83, of Lake Placid died April 15, 2010, at Florida Hospital Lake Placid after a lengthy illness.
Born Sept. 30, 1926, in Wellsville, N.Y., he was the son of Arling and Hazel Coleman Saunders.
He was married to the former Anne Nicholson, who died in 1995. He later married Lucy Saunders, who survives.
Mr. Saunders served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked as a wholesale plumbing and heating salesman for Harris Supply in Wellsville until retiring in 1986, at which time he and his wife Anne moved to Lake Placid.
Surviving besides his wife Lucy are five children, Robert (Terry) Saunders of Atlanta, Jill (Alan) Best of Avon Park, Tim (Michelle) Saunders of San Antonio, Andy (Sue) Saunders and Jackie (Brian) Morrison, both of Bolivar, N.Y.; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday (June 28, 2010) at 10 a.m. in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
