Kenneth A. Hackett
BOLIVAR, NY - Kenneth A. Hackett, 89, of 1240 Kansas Hollow Road passed away Sunday (June 27, 2010) at home following a brief illness.
Born April 5, 1921, in Wellsville, he was a son of Leonard and Susie Hall Hackett. He married the former Beatrice Barber, who predeceased him in 1964. He later married Carolyn Childs, who survives.
Mr. Hackett was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1945.
He worked for many years in local oil fields, then was employed as an engine tester for Clark Bros. (now Dresser-Rand) in Olean for 27 years until retiring in 1983.
Ken was a member of Kenyon Andrus American Legion Post 772 of Bolivar, 40+ Motorcycle Club, was an avid fan of the Bolivar-Richburg Wolverines football and baseball teams, a very active volunteer with the Bolivar Little League, was a proud fan of the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed spending time with his animals.
Surviving besides his wife are four daughters, Judy (Reginald) Faulkner of Scio, Karen Jordan, Victoria Simard and Jody (John) McLaughlin, all of Bolivar; four sons, Kenneth (Sue) Hackett of Hallsport, James Murray of Hinesville, GA, Robert Hackett of Buffalo and Karl (Alice) Hackett of Bolivar; 28 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Ruth Johnson of Eldred, PA, Martha Miller of Batavia, NY, and Phyllis Burch of Yorkshire, NY.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Sue Iaonne, Helen Torrance and Shirley Peterson; and two brothers, Clayton Hackett and Leonard Hackett Jr.
Friends may call today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Schaffner Funeral Home, Inc., Bolivar. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (June 30, 2010) at 11 a.m. in the Faith Bible Church, Little Genesee, with Pastor Clint Pearsall and Glen Layfield co-officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
