Michael J. Foster
loving father, grandfather and son
OLEAN, NY - Michael J. Foster of 1992 Wayman Branch Road passed away unexpectedly Sunday (July 4, 2010) at home.
Born Oct. 20, 1952, in Olean, he was a son of Arthur and Evelyn Hollamby Foster. He was formerly married to Mary Hendryx.
Mike was a graduate of Portville Central School, class of 1971, and served with the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member and past commander of Portville American Legion Post 814. He enjoyed his grandchildren and was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and camping.
Surviving besides his mother are a daughter, Amy Lynn (Ronald Wilcox) Foster of Olean; a son, Joseph (Coleen) Foster of Joplin, MO; three grandchildren, Bryan Paul Wilcox, Jordan Joseph Foster and Shawna Wilcox; three brothers, Art (Barbara) Foster Jr. of Cuba, Kenneth (Karen) Foster of Orrville, OH, and Terry (Claudia) Foster of Olean; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father and an infant brother, Albert Foster.
Visitation will be private. Friends and family are invited to attend a military funeral service at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean, on Thursday (July 8, 2010) at 12:30 p.m. Members of the Portville American Legion will officiate. Burial will be in the Veterans Field of Honor, Mount View Cemetery, Olean.
