Marie Vaughn
Special Loving Mother and Grandmother.
ELDRED, PA- Marie Vaughn, 82, of Eldred died Saturday (Feb. 7, 2009) at Sena Kean Manor in Smethport.
Born July 20, 1926, in Great Valley, NY, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Gladys Holliday Baker. On Nov. 10, 1945, in Allegany, NY, she married Edward Vaughn who passed away on Oct. 26, 2002.
Mrs. Vaughn attended school in Humphrey, NY, Bear Hollow, NY, Great Valley, NY and later graduated from Ellicottville High School in Ellicottville, NY. She had resided in the Eldred area since 1945.
Mrs. Vaughn has been employed by Weston's Bakery in Salamanca, NY and later by Ontario Knife Factory in Franklinville, NY, the Eldred Munitions Co., Hi-Q in Olean, NY and Olean Tile in Olean. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Vaughn's Store in Eldred for 10 years.
Mrs. Vaughn was devoted to her faith, family and friends. She loved playing cards, bowling, sewing, quilting, reading and crocheting. She was an avid NASCAR and Buffalo Bills fan.
Surviving are two sons, Gerald (Alice) Vaughn and Terry (Debra) Vaughn, both of Eldred; a daughter, Pamela (Howard) Griffith of Eldred; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Vernon (Shirley) Baker of Franklinville, NY, and Benjamin Baker of Little Genesee, NY; two sisters Madeline (Norman) Hartwell of Delevan, NY and Isabel Priest of Warsaw, NY and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Frame Funeral Home in Eldred where funeral committal services will be held Tuesday (Feb. 10, 2009) at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Glenn Hamilton officiating.
Burial will follow in Lamphier Cemetery in Eldred.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Bradford Public Library or the library of the donor's choice.
