David J. Mountain
HOUGHTON, NY - David J. Mountain, of 8107 Pine Woods Road, Rushford, died Thursday (Aug. 12, 2010) in Cuba Memorial Hospital.
Born on Aug. 26, 1939, in Olean, he was a son of the late Edward and Margaret (Swift) Mountain. He married the former Barbara Lee, who survives.
Mr. Mountain was a member of the St. Patrick's Church in Belfast. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1956 through 1959. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 2721 of Cuba, American Legion Post No. 655 of Cuba and former member of the American Legion Post No. 1504 of Belfast.
Prior to retiring, he was a tool-and-die maker at Ford Motor Corp. in Buffalo.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three granddaughters, Ashley Mountain, Amanda Mountain, and Sarah Mountain; a great-grandson, Carter Mountain; three brothers, James (Mary) Mountain of Belfast, William (Betty) Mountain of Albion, and Robert (Diane) Mountain of Bolivar; a sister, Mary Jane McCumiskey of Belfast; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Mountain of Portville and Margery Mountain of Cuba; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sons, David Mountain and Paul Mountain; two brothers, Donald Mountain and Thomas Mountain; a sister, Jeanne Mountain; and a brother-in-law, Patrick McCumiskey.
Family and friends may gather from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 15, 2010) at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee St., Fillmore. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday (Aug. 16, 2010) at St. Patrick's Church, Belfast, with Father Dennis J.J. Mancuso, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Belfast, with full military honors accorded by members of the American Legion Post No. 655 of Cuba.
The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 15, 2010) at the funeral home.
