Evelyn E. Martin Caldwell
beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother
COUDERSPORT, PA - Evelyn E. Martin Caldwell, 96, of Coudersport, died Monday (Aug. 16, 2010) in the Extended Care Unit of Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, following a short illness.
Born April 15, 1914, in Buffalo, N.Y., she was a daughter of Emil and Edna Roth Knecthel. On Oct. 19, 1941, she married George W. Martin, who predeceased her. On Aug. 29, 1959, she married William T. Caldwell, who died May 26, 1986.
Mrs. Caldwell worked at the Anchor toy factory and Hamlin's 5 & 10 Store, then at the Market Basket store in Coudersport for 20 years.
She was a lifetime member of the Coudersport Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary and Tri-County Firemen's Auxiliary and a member of the Potter Post American Legion marching unit. She enjoyed playing bingo for years.
Surviving are two sons, George E. (Jean) Martin of Roulette and Richard A. (Gladys) Martin of Shinglehouse; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Martin of Roulette, Heather (Keith) Hoffman of Shinglehouse and Casey Martin of Phoenix, Ariz; eight great-grandchildren, Lynzie Rinamon, Corbin Martin, Jaret Martin, Rylie Hoffman, Carter Hoffman, Makenna Hoffman, Holden Hoffman and Hudson Hoffman; a sister, Lillian Kuchar of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by a brother, Howard E. Knecthel.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fickinger Funeral Home, Coudersport, where funeral services will be held Friday (Aug. 20, 2010) at 11 a.m. The Rev. H.D. Youngblood will officiate. Burial will be in Eulalia Cemetery, Coudersport.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Coudersport Hospice, Coudersport Fire Department, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
