Thelma L. Davis
SMETHPORT, Pa.- Thelma L. Davis, 83, of Smethport went back to God on Monday (Aug. 16, 2010).
Born Sept. 6, 1926, in Hazel Hurst, she was a daughter of Glenn "Babe" and Dorothy Kinney Causer. On June 7, 1949, in Olean, N.Y., she married George O. Davis, who died May 15, 1983.
Mrs. Davis was employed years ago at Backus Co. in Smethport. She was a homemaker, loving caregiver, the rock of her family, known as a mentor to many, an inspiration to each generation with her love, honest, genuine and hard-working approach to life. Thelma will never be forgotten but still lives inside everyone who knew her and was lucky enough to be touched by her kindness and strength of character. She will be sadly missed by her family.
She enjoyed playing bingo.
Surviving are a son, George O. Davis Jr. of Port Allegany; three daughters, Linda (Randy) Miller of Gifford, Sharon "Pinky" Ahearn of Smethport and Bonnie (Dan) Britton of Betula; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Sue) Causer of Kansas; four sisters, Glenna (Jerry) Larkin of Port Allegany, Janet Swick of Bradford, Carol Trainer of Minnesota and Joan (Chuck) Sherwood of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Waiting in heaven are her husband; parents; a son, David; a grandson, Nokoa Britton; three brothers, Jack, Ken and Robert Causer; and three sisters, Donna Chapman, Vera Fenton and Melva Swick.
Friends may call at the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Home Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, on Thursday (Aug. 19, 2010) from noon to 1 p.m., at which time funeral and committal services will be held. The Rev. Kent Hill, pastor of the Coryville Church of Faith, will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Farmers Valley.
