Virginia S. (Ginny) Dorman
loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother
PORTVILLE, NY - Virginia S. "Ginny" Dorman of 330 Prosser Road passed away Thursday (Aug. 19, 2010) at Absolut of Salamanca after a long illness.
Born Oct. 6, 1930, in Natrona Heights, PA, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Rachael Vogeley Sarver. On Nov. 6, 1952, in Fort Devens, MA, she married Dennis R. "Denny" Dorman, who survives.
Mrs. Dorman was a graduate of Har-Brack High School in Natrona Heights and attended Grove City College. She was a substitute teacher at Bolivar, Richburg, Portville and Olean Schools. She also worked as a bookkeeper at the Portville town clerk's office for 10 years until her retirement.
Ginny was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Portville, where she was junior choir director; was past senior choir director at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Westons Mills and Hillside Wesleyan Church in Olean; and was a member of the former Portville Home Bureau.
Surviving besides her husband are a son, Paul (Marla) Dorman or Tempe, AZ; a daughter, Dawn (Todd) Chadwick of Randolph; five grandchildren, Benjamin Dorman of Oklahoma, Samuel Dorman of Florida, Keenan (Elena) Chadwick of Macedon, Kaiya Chadwick of Rochester and Kira Chadwick of Randolph; two great-grandchildren, Elina and Eva Chadwick; three sisters, Rachael Greene of Florida, Alberta Janosky of North Carolina and Phylis Wertz of Scottsdale, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Marin Mae Foreman and Lois Shaffer.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the First Presbyterian Church of Portville, with the Rev. Marilyn Hale officiating. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
