James L. Spry
Englewood, FL - James L. Spry, 78 of Englewood, formerly of Salamanca, NY and Mount Jewett, PA, passed away peacefully Tuesday (Aug. 17, 2010) at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Nov. 13, 1931, in the town of Carrollton, NY, he was a son of Larry and Beatrice Landon Spry. On Jan. 10, 1954, he married Audrey Harris, his devoted wife of 56 years, who survives.
Mr. Spry served with the U.S. Navy and retired from B&O/C&O/CSX/B&P Railroad after 45 years of service.
Surviving besides his wife are five children, Lorri (Dr. James) Kane of Smethport, PA, Larry (Elizabeth) Spry of Little Valley, NY, Tammy Buck of Englewood, James (Lori) Spry of Cross, SC, and Stefanie (Dan) Julian of Englewood; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Milton (Elaine), Tom, and John (Bonnie) Spry; a sister, Sandy Spry; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Edward Spry; and two sisters, Donna McLeod and Marilee Spry.
He will be sadly missed. Many thanks go out for the loving care given by hospice to Jim throughout this journey.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
