George W. Kelly
HAMBURG, NY- George W. Kelly, 98, of Smith Rd., formerly of Port Allegany & Coraopolis, PA, passed away Wednesday (August 25, 2010) in the Autumn View Health Care Facility, Hamburg, NY.
Born August 15, 1912, in Moon Township, PA, he was a son of Thomas J. and Bertha Goss Kelly. On Sept. 23, 1935, in Coraopolis, PA, he married Lucille M. Doughty, who died May 16, 1999.
Mr. Kelly was in sales and management with Snap-On Tools, Inc., for several years before retiring.
He was a member of the Hamburg United Methodist Church, former member of the Odd Fellows of Coroapolis, PA, National Rifle Association, and American Association of Retired Persons.
Surviving are a son, George A. (Mary Ann) Kelly, and a daughter, Jane L. (Jerry) Schmidt both of Hamburg, NY; three grandchildren: Mike Schmidt, Kathy Kelly and Traci Kelly, and several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife. Lucille, a grandson, Robert Kelly; three brothers, Tom Kelly, David Kelly, William Kelly; and four sisters, Bertha McElhany, Agnes Fox, Isabelle Green, and Mildred Kelly.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Friday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 28. 2010) in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Hamburg, NY.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
