Lewis J. Crawford
loving husband, father and grandfather
CUBA - Lewis J. Crawford, 74, of 631 Route 446 passed away Sunday (Aug. 22, 2010) at Olean General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born Jan. 16, 1936, in Hinsdale, he was a son of Herbert and Elsie Wilber Crawford. On March 18, 1989, in Hinsdale, he married the former Judith A. Carey, who survives.
Lewis was a graduate of Hinsdale Central School.
For a short period of time, he worked in the Buffalo brickyards before going to work as a machinist at Dresser-Rand in Olean. In 1984, he purchased the family business, Happy John's Bar. In 1987, he retired from Dresser-Rand with more than 30 years of service.
Mr. Crawford was a social member of Cuba American Legion Post 655, Shawn M. Clemens Memorial AMVETS Post 1 of Cuba and was a former member of the St. Stephen's Club of Olean.
In his younger years, Lewis enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing.
Surviving besides his wife Judy are two sons, Mark Eric Crawford of Texas and Eric P. Crawford of North Carolina; three daughters, Lori (Donald) Holm of Falconer, Linda Atwater of Port Allegany, Pa., and Barbara (Paul) Tarr of Olean; two stepsons, Timothy J. (Mary) Isaman and Ronald (Vickie) Isaman Jr., both of Olean; two stepdaughters, Lisa Bartholomew of Deltona, Fla., and Christine (Stoyan) Belotieff of Erie, Pa.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four brothers, Loren (Marjorie) Crawford of Florida, John Crawford of Olean, Gerald Crawford of Florida and David (Nancy) Crawford of Olean; two sisters, Freida (William) Cousins of Olean and Sherlyn (Scott) McNeil of Friendship; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, Herman, Herald, Andy and Russell Crawford; and a sister, Marion Studley.
Friends may call at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service Inc., 9 Bull St., Cuba, on Wednesday, (Aug. 25, 2010) from 4 to 7 p.m., at which time funeral services will be held.
The Rev. Chuck Maine, pastor of The Vine and His Branches House of Restoration, will officiate.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
