Lila Jean Jones
SCIO, NY - Lila Jean Jones, 84, of 4048 Pine St. and a former Friendship resident, died Tuesday (Aug. 24, 2010) in Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville following a brief illness.
Born July 26, 1926, in Butler, PA, she was a daughter of Allie Brooks and Hazel E. Kerr Wise.
In May 1947, in Wellsboro, PA, she married Andrew Edward Kirby Jones Sr., who predeceased her.
She was a graduate of Butler High School and was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Cuba.
Until her retirement, she was employed as a secretary at the Acme Electric Corp. in Cuba, and for many years was also the court clerk for the town of Friendship.
She was an avid lover of all animals and enjoyed time spent listening to music.
She is survived by a son, Kirby (Susan) Jones of Wellsville; a daughter, Doris (Hans) Moerman of the Netherlands; a daughter-in-law, Kathy (Iriving) Newton of Scio; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Custead of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, and a son, Trevor.
Friends may call from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. today (Aug. 28, 2010) at Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home in Wellsville, where services will take place at 5:00. The Rev. Glen Layfield of Scio Church of Christ, will officiate.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Friendship.
Memorials may be made to the SPCA serving Allegany County or to the Allegany County Sheriff's Department Memorial Fund.
