Keith G. Van Der Linden

missionary, woodworker
PORTVILLE, NY - Keith G. Van Der Linden, 84, of 25 N. Main St., Portville, formerly of West Clarksville, passed away Monday (Aug. 30, 2010) at the Wellsville Manor Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Born April 8, 1926, in West Clarksville, he was a son of Garrit N. and Katie V. Gilbert Van Der Linden. On April 15, 1945, in the West Clarksville Baptist Church, he married the former Dorothy Hamilton, who survives.
Mr. Van Der Linden was a salesman for Bowman Sales for many years prior to retiring. In his retirement, he was instrumental in establishing a Source of Light Ministries work in Romania and made several trips to ensure that the work he helped to start never stopped. He especially enjoyed these trips when his wife accompanied him.
Keith always had a great sense of humor and ability to tell numerous jokes. But, most of all, he will be remembered for the extreme amount of love he showed toward and gave his family.
He enjoyed woodworking, which enabled him to make wonderful gifts for family and friends, and singing in the Kingsmen Quartet as well as other groups. He was also accomplished in playing the piano and organ.
Surviving besides his wife of 65 years are a son, Russell (Carol) Van Der Linden of Rochester, a daughter, Aprille (Ronald) Truax of Cuba; seven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Frederick R. Van Der Linden, on Aug. 1, 2010; a grandson, Stephen Van Der Linden; a granddaughter, Katie M. Van Der Linden; and two brothers, Vern V. Van Der Linden and Guy L. Van Der Linden.
Friends may call Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc, 9 Bull St., Cuba. Funeral services will be held Sunday (Sept. 5, 2010) at 2 p.m. in the Obi Community Church, 1948 State Route 305, Cuba, with the Rev. David Cook, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in West Clarksville Cemetery, Town of Clarksville.
Memorials may be made to the Source of Light Ministries, 1011 Mission Road, Madison, GA 30650.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.rinkerfuneralhome.com.
