Edward A. Pastor Sr.


beloved husband, father and grandfather
    FRIENDSHIP, NY - Edward A. Pastor Sr., 81, of Maple Grove Estates, Friendship, formerly of 8871 Stout Road, Cuba, passed away after a lengthy illness on Sunday (Aug. 29, 2010) at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Bath, surrounded by his family.
    Born Jan. 26, 1929, in Port Vue, PA, he was a son of Michael and Ella Chontos Pastor. On Sept. 11, 1948, he married the former Betty Crandall, who predeceased him Nov. 6, 1997. On Oct. 2, 1999, in Cuba, he married the former Lucille Bruner, who survives.
    Mr. Pastor served with the U.S. Army from Aug. 12, 1946 to Dec. 24, 1947. He was always proud of his service.
    After returning to the Cuba area, he worked for the railroad for a short period of time. He then was employed by Acme Electric Corp. in Cuba as a welder for 36 years until retiring.
    Mr. Pastor enjoyed maintaining his lawn, bird watching, puzzles, the waterfalls at Letchworth State Park, collecting unique stones and Kinzua Dam. In previous years, he enjoyed hunting. He also enjoyed watching races and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and New York Yankees fan.
    He was a member of Cuba American Legion Post 655 and North Park Wesleyan Church.
    Surviving besides his second wife are three sons, Edward A. Pastor Jr. of Ischua, James P. (Cindy) Pastor of Wisconsin and Timothy (Debbie Blake) Pastor of Cuba; two daughters, Deborah (David) Freeman of Friendship and Cynthia (Terry) Mostacato of Portville; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, William M. (Patricia) Pastor of Warren, MI; a sister, Eleanor Markette of Ogden, UT; and several nieces and nephews.
    Friends will be received at the North Park Wesleyan Church, 13 N. Park St., Cuba, on Wednesday (Sept.. 1, 2010) from 2 to 5 p.m., at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. Jonathan D. Ward, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery.
    Memorial suggestions include HomeCare & Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
