Charlotte A. Wylie


“beloved mother and grandmother”

SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Charlotte A. Wylie, 75, of Shinglehouse, formerly of Philadelphia, died unexpectedly, Saturday, September 25, 2010 in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, after a brief illness.

Born July 8, 1935 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of William and Charlotte Sullivan Gehring. On May 14, 1952 in Philadelphia, she married John W. Wylie, Sr., who died on April 4, 1983.

Mrs. Wylie attended Olney High School in Philadelphia. She was employed for 11 years by Prudential Insurance Company as a customer service representative.

She loved breeding and showing dogs. Mrs. Wylie very much enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.

Surviving are four children, John W. (Mary Ann) Wylie, Jr. of Shinglehouse, Linda A. (Lynn) Wise of Fallsington, Robert W. Wylie of Shinglehouse, and Lori M. Serina of Coudersport; eleven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wylie was predeceased by her parents and husband.

Friends may call at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from 12 noon to 1p.m. at which time funeral services will be held with the Rev. Russell J. Horning, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, officiating. Burial will be in the William Penn Cemetery, Philadelphia.

Memorials may be made to an S.P.C.A. of the donor’s choice.
