Vicki D. Welty
loving wife, mother, daughter and grandmother
CONCORD, N.C. - Vicki D. Welty, of 1108 Poole Place, formerly of Portville and Erie, Pa., passed away Saturday (Dec. 4, 2010) unexpectedly at the Carolinas Medical Center, N.E.
Born Nov. 22, 1954, in Salamanca, N.Y., she was a daughter of Andrew and Marjorie Zbink Zawatski. On Dec. 16, 1972, in Sacred Heart Church, Portville, N.Y., she married Charles "Chuck" Welty, who survives.
Mrs. Welty was a 1972 graduate of Salamanca High School.
She was employed at Portville Central School District and Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and especially her grandchildren.
She had resided in North Carolina for the last seven years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother, Marjorie, of Allegany, N.Y.; two sons, C. Ryan (Sandy) Welty of Clinton, Utah, and Keith A. (Amanda) Welty of Denver, N.C.; a daughter, Melanie R. (Ed) Zalwsky of Portville; four grandchildren, Delsie, Tyler, McKenzi and Caydence; a brother, Andrew Zawatski of Allegany; four sisters, Linda Estes and Andrea Arena, both of Kill Buck, N.Y., Sandy Thiel of Jamestown, N.Y. and Tina (Dean) Rosenberry of Iron Station; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today (Dec. 9, 2010) at Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 51 S. Main St., Portville. Funeral and committal services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday (Dec. 10, 2010) at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ASPCA or to the Greg Biffle Foundation.
