Dorothy D. Kirtz
OLEAN, NY - Dorothy D. Kirtz of 1990 Dugan Road passed away Thursday (Dec. 9, 2010) in Cuba Memorial Hospital's Palliative Care Unit after a long illness.
Born Sept. 5, 1926, in Richburg, she was a daughter of Archie and Millie Tanner Bean. On Nov. 25, 1950, she married Elmer "Bud" Kirtz Jr., who predeceased her Oct. 19, 1992.
Mrs. Kirtz was briefly employed at the munitions plant in Eldred, PA, AVX in Olean and the former Acme Electric in Allegany.
She enjoyed crafts and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara (Kenneth) Pickett of Shinglehouse, PA, Pamela Eastman of Hinsdale and Roxanne (David Davis) Peterson of Shinglehouse; a son, Kenneth (Mary Lou) Bean of Shinglehouse; a brother, Arthur Bean of Shinglehouse; five grandchildren, Alton Eastman Jr., Tammy Elliott, Bobbie Peterson, Christopher Peterson and Michael Eastman; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Judy Kim Kirtz; a granddaughter, Jessica Eastman; a son-in-law, Alton Eastman Sr.; three sisters, Emily Bean, Mable Schram and Mildred Kirtz; and four brothers, Warren Bean, Willard Bean, Emmett Bean and Lloyd Bean.
Friends were received Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean, where funeral services will be held today (Dec. 11, 2010) at 11 a.m. The Rev. Russell Horning, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Shinglehouse, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220; or to the Westons Mills Volunteer Ambulance Squad.
