Janet Louise Windnagle
loving wife, mother and grandmother
PORTVILLE - Janet Louise Windnagle of 312 Prosser Road went to be with the Lord on Wednesday (Feb. 25, 2009) in her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born Oct. 8, 1949, in Niagara Falls, she was a daughter of William M. and Leona M. Benware Porter. On June 29, 1985, in Portville, she married John W. Windnagle, who survives.
She was a certified Christian school teacher, worked at Bush Industries and held several other jobs before becoming a full-time homemaker.
Janet enjoyed her family and grandchildren, reading the Bible, gardening, wildlife, oil paintings, camping, traveling and visiting the ocean. She used her artistic talents to sketch and paint as a youth.
Surviving besides her husband are her father, William, of Olean; her children, Kelly (Jeff) Windnagle and William (Becky) Briggs, both of Surfside Beach, SC, Abigail Briggs of Olean, John Windnagle and Daniel Windnagle, both of Portville; four grandchildren, Cody, Courtney and Clara Windnagle and Desiree Walters, all of Surfside Beach, a sister, Carolyn (Mark) Farley of Olean; several nieces and nephews; her cousin George and close friend Dawn Sprague of Portville.
She was predeceased by her mother, Leona, on March 9, 2006.
The family will receive friends at the West Clarksville Baptist Church, 9003 County Route 5, Obi, for a memorial visitation on Sunday (March 1, 2009) from 2 to 3pm , at which time a memorial service will be held. Pastor Les Chambers will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
