Valerie M. Osgood
FRIENDSHIP, NY- Valerie M. Osgood, 96, of 2 E. Water St. died today (Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010) in her home after of brief illness.
Born Feb. 4, 1914, in Friendship, she was a daughter of Harry and Mae Wheeler Clark. On July 8, 1967, in Friendship, she married James B. Osgood, who died Dec. 31, 1999.
Val resided in Friendship most of her life and had operated a beauty shop out of her home for many years.
She loved sewing, gardening, entertaining and music. She was an excellent cook and once owned the Rendezvous restaurant in Friendship. She was a member of the former Travelers Club, Red Hat Society and Friendship Garden Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis E. Piotrowski of East Aurora and Susan J. Strickley of Friendship; two stepsons, James D. (Roberta) Osgood of Addison and Jack (Carolyn) Osgood of Richburg; a stepdaughter, Cindy (James) Dick Jr. of Friendship; a granddaughter, Leigh Ann (Joe) Krol of East Aurora; a great-grandson, Jacob Krol of East Aurora; special "Kelly kids," Brenda, Joey, Cheri and Jackie; many beloved nieces and nephews; eight step grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, Carl Clark; and five sisters, Lureita Ordway, Alice Nielsen, Virginia VanCampen, Nina Kelly and Pearl B. Coogan.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship, where private funeral and committal services will be held Monday (Dec. 27, 2010). The Rev. Marian Schneider of the Allegany County Episcopal Ministries will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship.
