Patricia Janice McCarthy


     FRIENDSHIP - Patricia Janice McCarthy, 69, of 18 Factory St., died Thursday (Feb. 26, 2009) at Buffalo General Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
     Born May 21, 1939 in Cuba, She was a daughter of Glen and Helen Johnson Cummins. On Aug. 26, 1961, in the Friendship United Methodist Church, she married Michael J. McCarthy, who survives.
     Pat had resided in Friendship all of her life and was a graduate of Friendship Central School, class of 1958. She was a graduate of Rochester Beauty School, receiving her license to operate a beauty salon. She made her number-one profession taking care of her family.
     She was an avid bingo player, enjoyed knitting and loved being with her family, especially the grandchildren.
     She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and a past member of the Ladies Friendship Firemen's Auxiliary.
     Surviving in addition to her husband, Mike, are a son, Shawn G. (Annmarie) McCarthy of Rochester; a daughter, Kelley J. (Joseph) Anderson of Friendship; four grandchildren; a brother, Bobby (Jackie) Cummins of Friendship; two sisters, Beverly Wood of Rochester and Robin (Donald) Cole of Friendship; and several nieces and nephews.
     Friends may call at Truesdell Funeral Home, Friendship, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, where funeral and committal services will be held Monday (March 2, 2009) at 11 a.m. The Rev. Marian Schneider of Allegany County Episcopal Ministries will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship.
