Roderick A. (Rick) Safford
WARREN- Roderick A. Safford, 54, of Penn. Ave. East, died Friday (Feb. 27, 2009) at his residence.
Born May 5, 1954, in Bradford, PA, he was a son of Lyle R. and Marian Greene Safford.
Mr. Safford was a painter before having to retire.
He was a graduate of the Smethport High School, Class of 1972.
He had been a resident of Warren for 3 years, coming from Erie and Smethport.
Surviving are three sons, Troy Safford of Warren, Justin Safford of Olean, NY, Joshua Safford of Port Allegany; a daughter, Shannon Hitchcock of Allegany, NY; a sister, Phyllis D. (William) Simms of Smethport; 8 grandchildren; longtime companion, Phyllis Edmiston of Warren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, James R. Safford.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday (Mar. 4, 2009) in the Hilltop Baptist Church, Cyclone, with Rev. Max Simms, pastor, and William J. Simms, II, co-officiating.
Memorials can be made to the Hilltop Baptist Church.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, PA.
