William F. Ostrander
PORT ALLEGANY- William F. Ostrander, 79, of Parklane Dr., died Sunday (Mar. 1, 2009) in Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.
Born September 24, 1929, in Bradford, PA, he was a son of Floyd and Carrie Pitcher Ostrander. On Aug. 1, 1953, in Smethport, he married Enid A. “Tiny” Hess, who survives.
Mr. Ostrander and his wife owned and operated the Ostrander Farm, for many years, before his retirement. He was a former Liberty Township supervisor. After retiring, he worked part time for Valu Home Center in Olean, NY.
He was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, Class of 1947.
He attended the United Methodist Church of Port Allegany.
Surviving are three sons, Robert E. Ostrander of Blue Ridge Summit, PA, Donald F. (Tricia) Ostrander of Sterling, VA, and David A. (Debbie) Ostrander of Ashburn, VA; two grandchildren, Nathan Ostrander and Kyle Ostrander; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany. Private funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (Mar. 4, 2009) with Rev. James Kazimer, pastor of the First Church of God, Eldred, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.
