R.V. Andrews
ELDRED, Pa. - R.V. Andrews, 93, of Eldred, died Saturday (Feb. 28, 2009) at the Universal Health Care Facility in Concord, N.C.
Born April 23, 1915, in Gann, Ark., he was a son of Robert Lee and Myra Ethel Heath Andrews. On July 3, 1937, in El Reno, Okla., he married Norene Bailey, who passed away Aug. 26, 1991.
Mr. Andrews was a graduate of Calumet (Okla.) High School and had resided in the Duke Center/Eldred area since 1937.
He owned and operated Andrews Garage in Duke Center for many years until retiring in 1978.
Mr. Andrews was a member of the Derrick City Seventh-day Adventist Church, was a former member of the Otto Township Fire Department and had been a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1933 to 1936. He enjoyed stock car racing, especially watching his grandson, Todd. He also enjoyed reading his Bible, watching football and gardening.
Surviving are two sons, Donald (Lois) Andrews of Ceres, N.Y., and Dale (Kathy) Andrews of Eldred; four grandchildren, Todd (Brandi) Andrews of Portville, N.Y., Amy (Dennis) Daniels of Concord, Joel (Sonja) Andrews of Shinglehouse and Greg (Jennifer) Andrews of Lancaster, NY; five great-grandchildren, Bailey and Makayla Daniels, Megan, Zachary and Ava Andrews; three sisters, Beatrice Berry of El Reno, Marie Parker of Charleston, W. Va., and Sibyl Slavin of Choctaw, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred, where funeral and committal services will be held Friday (March 6, 2009) at 11 a.m. The Rev. Lynn Gatz, pastor of the Derrick City Seventh-day Adventist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.
The family requests memorials be made to the Derrick City Seventh-day Adventist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
