Genevieve N. Farrell


BRADFORD, PA - Genevieve N. Farrell, 89, of 897 Songbird Road, passed away Wednesday (Feb. 9, 2011) surrounded by her loving family at her residence.
    Born March 20, 1921, in Allegany, NY, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Katherine (O'Meara) Nenno.
    On Aug. 8, 1938, in St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany, she married Jacob L. Farrell, who died May 2, 2004.
    Mrs. Farrell was a 1938 graduate of St. Elizabeth Academy in Allegany.
    She and her family owned and operated the Custer City Taste Freeze.
    She was a former member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, a former member and past president of the Catholic Women's Club, and a member of St. Bernard Church. She also was a former member and past president of the Custer City PTA.
    Surviving are six daughters, Kathleen (Bruce Hasse) Larnard of Hammondsport, NY, Margaret Pyle of Bradford, Marian (Gary) Bush of Smethport, Christina (James) Moyer of Bradford, Patricia (Robert) Long of Mars, and Theresa (Dan DeFrank) Fair of Bradford; one daughter-in-law Linda R. Farrell of Derrick City; three sons Thomas (Joan) Farrell of Bradford, Joseph (Nadine) Farrell of Beaver Dams, NY, and Mark (Donna) Farrell of Crosby; 38 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one son, Roger G. Farrell; two grandsons; two sisters, Theresa Pounds and Beatrice Nenno; and two brothers, John and Joseph Nenno.
    Family will be receiving friends on Monday, Feb. 14, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., South Avenue, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 15, 2011), in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernard Church with the Rev. Leo Gallina as celebrant. Committal services and burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
    Memorials, if desired, may be made to the St. Bernard School or the Twin Tiers Pregnancy Center, 84 Boylston St., Bradford, PA 16701.
