Julia E. Bailey


    PORTVILLE, NY - Julia E. Bailey of Yuba Dam Road went to be with the Lord on Sunday (March 1, 2009) at the Hospice House in Lecanto, Fla. after battling heart and kidney failure for several years.
    Born Oct. 27, 1925, in Derrick City, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lloyd M. and Emma Boyer English. On Oct. 5, 1945, in Derrick City, she married Charles H. Bailey, who passed away May 7, 2002.
    Mrs. Bailey was a graduate of Bradford (Pa.) High School and received her nursing cap in 1944 from the Bradford School of Nursing.
    She worked at Daystrom's as a keypunch operator for many years until the business relocated. Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Portville (now River's Edge) United Methodist Church for more than 51 years and participated in many of the church activites. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and watching the birds.
    Surviving are two sons, James L. (Sandy) Bailey of Portville and C. Judson (Kathy) Bailey of Sebastian, Fla.; a daughter, Susan C. (Edwin) Hedberg of Lecanto, Fla.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Larry (Jean) English of Duke Center, Pa., and Edward (Jeanie) English of Derrick City.
    In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Lloyd English II.
    The family will receive friends at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 51 S. Main St., Portville, on Friday (March 6, 2009) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m., at which time funeral and committal services will be held. The Rev. Carol Thayer, retired, will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
