Sue Ellen Smith
RICHBURG - Mrs. Sue Ellen Smith, 62, of 136 Main St. and a former resident of Ardmore, Okla. and Harvest, Ala., passed away Saturday (March 7, 2009), shortly after admission to Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville.
Born Aug. 4, 1946, in Healdton, Okla., she was the daughter of J.L. and Alice Lee Summers. She married Al Smith Oct. 4, 1969 in Healdton, Okla. Mr. Smith survives.
She was a graduate of Healdton (Okla.) High School, Class of 1965, and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from East Central University in Ada, Okla. in 1968.
Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter, Kathrine (Robert) Murphy of Richburg; one son, Jay (Michelle) Smith of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Pam Murphy, Caitlin Murphy, Allen Murphy, Sara Smith and Alex Smith.
There will be no prior visitation. Graveside committal services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Richburg cemetery. Rev. Matthew Kofahl, pastor of the Bolivar United Methodist Church, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 315 Alberta Dr., Suite 102, Amherst, NY 14226 would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schaffner Funeral Home, Inc., Bolivar.
