Barbara Bowen Allen Costello
ALFRED - Barbara Bowen Allen Costello passed away Thursday (March 5, 2009).
She made her home with son Larry (Deana Aldrich) Allen in Dunwoody, Ga., since leaving Wellsville in 2005.
Barbara was born Aug. 20, 1926, in Franklinville, and graduated from Richburg High School in 1944. She was the daughter of Robert and Marie Bowen of West Clarksville.
In 1946, Barb married Vern Allen, who died in 1979. John Costello and Barb were married in 1984 and John passed away in 2003.
Barb is best remembered for her many years of employment at the Super Duper. She loved sewing and traveling the world, but got the most enjoyment watching “her” Buffalo Bills and Sabres.
Barbara is also survived by two other sons, Terry (Cathy Milne) Allen of Amherst, N.H. and Gary (Frankie Harvey) of Bluffton, S.C.; two special stepchildren, Doris (Costello) Emerson and John Costello, Jr.; a sister-in-law, Barb (Bart) Bowen; several nieces and nephews, including Brenda Bowen of Arkport; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren and left a message for them that “You have made me proud to be your Grandmother!”
Memorials may be made to any Armed Forces organization or to the David A. Howe Public Library.
