Frances M. Ellis
ANGELICA, NY - Frances M. Ellis, 85, of 4503 County Road 16 passed away Monday (May 23, 2011) at the Absolut at Houghton.
Born in Java Center on May 10, 1926, she was a daughter of Frank and Clara Berthold Delaney. She graduated from Arcade Central School, class of 1944, moving to Rushford Lake in 1951 and later to Angelica in the mid-1980s. On April 5, 1951, in Arcade, she married John E. Ellis, who predeceased her Jan. 30, 1974.
Frances had worked as a waitress in Arcade as well as working for Motorola and the former Monroe Games, also in Arcade. She later worked for Absolut at Houghton, but her favorite job was being a homemaker.
Frances enjoyed bird watching, sewing, cooking, baking, animals, baby-sitting, the Buffalo Sabres and the New York Yankees.
Surviving are six daughters, Anne (Ken) Geist of Angelica, Luana (John Stengel) Ellis of Friendship, Susan (Dan Hayton) Ellis of Pennsylvania, Nancy (Ed) Wilson of Wellsville, Mary Jane (Bob) Radel of Arizona and Lisa (Ken) Price of Virginia; a son, Michael Ellis of Angelica; three sisters, Marion Irving, Georgia Hillman and Carol (Neal) Dennis; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Kathryn Cole; and three brothers, Harold, Burton and William Delaney.
The family will be present at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Ave., Angelica, on Sunday (May 29, 2011) from 1 to 3 p.m., at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. David Cooke will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Belfast.
