Raymond Petteys Sr.
Smethport - Raymond Petteys, Sr., 76, of Smethport, died Saturday (March 14, 2009) in the Bradford Manor, Bradford.
Born May 8, 1932 in Port Allegany, he was a son of William and Edna Westfall Petteys In Port Allegany in 1956 he married Judith Ann Chilson. Then on July 24 1973 in Limestone, NY he married Ruth Gorr-Karnes, she survives.
Mr. Petteys attended Port Allegany High School and was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Army from 1949 to 1952
He was employed at Ethan Allen for 20 years and later by Graham Packaging in Bradford, working in the maintenance department for 27 years until retiring in 1995.
Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, Mary Ellen DeCarlo of Port Allegany, Debra Rae Salter of Port Allegany, Beth Howard of Port Allegany; two sons, Raymond (Linda) Petteys of Port Allegany, Matthew Petteys of Port Allegany; one stepson, James Karnes of Rew; two step daughters, Nellie Cook of Bradford, and Bertha Ackley of NC; one sister, Ella Beiler of Port Allegany; 9 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren
Mr. Pettys was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call on Monday March 16, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8PM in the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Home 105 N Main St., Port Allegany where funeral and committal service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday March 17, 2009 with the Rev Randall Headley, Pastor of the Port Allegany United Methodist Church Officiating. Burial will be in the Grimes Cemetery, Port Allegany.
Memorials may be made to the Rew Fire Department, Rew Ambulance or the Bradford Manor.
