John J. Juhasz


    FRIENDSHIP, NY - John J. Juhasz, 68, of 6478 Wells Road died Tuesday (Aug. 24, 2011) in Cuba Memorial Hospital's Palliative Care Unit following a lengthy illness.
    Born July 7, 1943, in the Bronx, he was a son of John Francis and Rose Juhasz. On Oct. 28, 1967, in the Bronx, he married the former Mary Jayne Nolan, who survives.
        John had grown up in the Bronx and graduated from St. Helena High School class of 1961. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he spent the next four years, from 1961 to 1965, as a jet engine mechanic. After his marriage to Mary Jayne, the couple from the Bronx to Goshen, then in 1976 relocated to the Rochester area where John was employed by Eastman Kodak as an engineering technician in the medical imaging department. In 1991, he retired and moved to Friendship.
    He enjoyed shooting, hunting, horseback riding, working with his hands and especially spending time with family and friends.
    He was a member of the Friendship American Legion Post 1168.
    Surviving besides his wife are a son, John C. (Lisa) Juhasz of Fairport; two daughters, Jeanine O'Laskey of Fairport and Michele (Scott) Carlson of Chili; five grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    He was predeceased by his parents, John Francis and Rose Juhasz; and a granddaughter, Angela O'Laskey.
    A memorial service will be held Sunday (Aug. 28, 2011) at 2 p.m. at the Friendship American Legion.
    Memorials may be made to the American Legion Memorial Fund, Friendship, NY 14739;  or to the American Cancer Society.
    Arrangements are under direction of the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship.
